HISTORY
VANITY GIRL was founded in 2018 by owner, creator and extensionist, Bobbie-Lea (or Bobbie). Bobbie was working a 9-5 office job that left her feeling uninspired, overworked and under appreciated. This, a strong interest in the beauty industry, as well as a bad experience as a hair extension client, turned out to be a blessing in disguise. This is what led Bobbie to get certified in the art of hair extensions. Her goal was to raise the standard by providing exceptional service, premium quality hair and skillful installations that would not only last but look beautiful & seamless!
And so, Vanity Girl was born! What started out as a side hustle and passion project quickly became a thriving and successful business and career.
As the business grew, our passion and goal became clear; to help women look and feel their best. This is at the heart of our business and why we do what we do!
What’s in a name?
Vanity Girl, isn’t just the name of our business, it’s our brand, our mission statement and always our goal.
Van-i-ty // excessive pride in or admiration of one’s own appearance or achievements.
Although the definition of vanity assumes that women who admire themselves are “over confident” or think they are the prettiest girl in the room, I like to think of it a little differently. I like to assume that we are all in this together, and are not trying to be better than one another but to be a better version of ourselves everyday.
As women, society has tried to make us feel guilty about caring about our appearance and spending money on ourselves, while at the same time expecting us to be perfect. I say, do whatever makes you happy! If spending $600+ on your hair gives you confidence and puts a smile on your face, then its worth every penny! Confidence is priceless!
We are all vane, there’s a reason we have mirrors in nearly every room of our homes (haha!). To be vane is to be a woman, and every woman is beautiful! We are all #Vanity Girls at heart!

I started Vanity Girl with the vision and goal to help women feel beautiful and become more confident and happier versions of themselves. The feeling I get when I see my clients reaction when looking in the mirror for the first time after getting their hair extensions installed, never gets old!
I have always been intrigued by all things beauty -hair, makeup, fashion, design-you name it. I guess you could say I was destined to end up in the beauty industry-but it took me 25 years to realize that!
I was trained by one of the leading hair extension educators in Canada. I am currently certified and offering four hair extension methods and am always updating my education. Hair extensions is and will always be my main priority but I have also taken courses on bridal & special occasion hairstyling and offer this service in my salon as well.
I pride myself in offering an intimate experience, I want my clients to feel like they are catching up with an old friend, a friend who doubles as a hair fairy godmother (haha).
Vanity Girl is my baby and the saying ‘when you support a small business you are supporting someone’s dream’ couldn’t be more true. I am so grateful for each and every one of my clients for trusting me with their hair and allowing me to pursue my passion.
